Our programs strengthen the Haredi educational system and its students and sets them on a path to success.
The Haredi (Ultra-Orthodox) community in Israel is facing growing challenges, among them the sharp increase in the number of school dropouts, many of whom exhibit dangerous and self-destructive behavior. The learning abilities of almost 50 percent of the students are not commensurate with the demands of the typical Haredi educational program.
It is not surprising that according to data published by the Israeli Ministry of Education in 2013, the percentage of young boys dropping out of the Haredi education system is about three times that of the overall population. Almost one out of every ten boys of high school age drops out each year.
Shlavim was founded in 2006 as an organization that designs and implements customized educational programs that are sensitive to Haredi needs and values. These programs strengthen the Haredi educational system and its students and sets them on a path to success.
Today, through our programming, Shlavim reaches dozens of schools and hundreds of students. An independent professional evaluation has documented and confirmed the dramatic success of our efforts in turning around the lives of so many young people.
Shlavim is deeply respected by Haredi spiritual leaders because of its mission and dedication to the Haredi community and its institutions. Shlavim has also achieved this same level of trust with the Ministry of Education.
