Chanoch

Project Details

Chanoch is a program aimed at developing employment competency among young Haredi men ages 17-24. Our goal is to bring each participant closer to the world of employment. We help students identify their strengths, and direct them to suitable channels, while carefully maintaining their Haredi identity.

In Hebrew Chanoch means “to educate” or “to train.”  The name is derived from a verse in the Book of Proverbs (43,22): "חנוך לנער על פי דרכו" – “Train the child in the way he ought to go.”

The Chanoch program consists of:

  • A career orientated program in which students are guided in choosing a future career path via workshops to identify their strengths and skills, personal mentoring, computerized vocational evaluations, and meetings with an occupational psychologist., The Chanoch staff then assists the students in
locating appropriate training program and provides tutoring as needed.
  • Enrichment programs within the yeshiva structure in such skills as mathematics, English and computer science.
  • Premarital financial management workshops

Chanoch was established in 2012.  It is operated in cooperation with the Joint Distribution Committee of Israel and the Israeli Ministry of Labor. Over the past decade more than 90 Yeshivot throughout Israel have participated in this important program.
